Simone Biles

Simone Arianne Biles (/sI’moUn ‘baI@lz14 March 1997 [4]) is an American artistic gymnast. Biles has won seven Olympic medals are tied with Shannon Miller for the most Olympic medals for an American gymnast, and is equal to ninth overall. Biles is considered by many to be the best gymnast to ever compete, having earned 25 World Championship medals. Joe Biden presented Biles with the Presidential Medal of Freedom 2022. Biles received gold medals at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics. Biles also took home bronze in the balance beam, floor, all-around and vault. Biles was part of the United States team known as the "Final Five". However, Biles pulled out of most of the competition due to issues with "the twisties" which refers to a temporary loss in balance awareness of the air. In the US team she won the balance beam medal and also a silver. The judges praised the partial withdrawal she had made, her her mental and physical health-focused focus, determination and determination to be safe. She is also a five time World all-around champion (2013-15 and 2018-19) and five times World floor exercise champion (2013)-2015 and 2018-2019) Three times World balance beam champion (2014)-2015 and 2019,), two times World vault champion (2018), and was part of the gold-winning American teams in all four World Artistic Gymnastics Championships (2014, 2015, 2018, and 2019). Biles is the world's most decorated gymnast (25) and the World's most gold-medalled (19). Biles has just surpassed Vitaly Scherbo, who holds the record for 23 World medals. Biles won both 24th and 25th gold medals in the 2019 Stuttgart competition. Biles holds the record for having the highest number of all-around World titles (5). She is the sixth female to achieve both an individual and team title in the Olympics or World Championships. Biles is the tenth American female gymnast and the first American female gymnast, to be awarded a World medal for every event and was the first female gymnast since Daniela Silivas (1988), to be awarded a medal at every Olympic Games or World Championships. Biles was born on 14 March 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the fourth of her siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, couldn't care for Simone and her other kids, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. All four went in and out of foster care. In 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano, began taking care of Shanon's kids in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after discovering that his grandchildren had been in foster care. In 2003, Simone and Adria were adopted by the couple. Ron's sister, Shanon's aunt Harriet, adopted the two oldest children.
