A former leading fashion model who was 5'10'' in height, Carey was an a fan favorite of the top American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent geoscientist and was awarded the title of Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over due to her father's work. While she was at the University of Colorado at part-time and was able to catch the attention of a Ford model Agency representative in New York. In the year 1980, she emigrated to France and briefly lived in Paris and Bordeaux and then returned to New York in order to explore the modeling profession. She appeared on Vogue and Glamour pages. In addition to modeling, she attended New York University full-time to get a literature degree. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. Her debut as an actor was as a character with Robin Williams in the 1986 film 'Club Paradise. She loves rock climbing, skiing, and windsurfing.
